Meet the FOWWS Action Groups

There are 300-400 members of Friends of the Scrubs at any one time. Five sub-groups are tasked with monitoring and researching different issues facing the Scrubs and its future.

The Friends do not manage the Scrubs - that is the job of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, which is the sole trustee and represented by the Wormwood Scrubs Charitable Trust. Our role is to hold the council and the WSCT to account and scrutinise their management of this precious green space.

Playgrounds and facilities

Hard landscaping is kept to a minimum on Wormwood Scrubs. It isn’t a normal park. It’s thus very important that what built facilities there are are in good repair and in keeping with the surroundings.

The Playgrounds and Facilities group is monitoring the state of facilities including the football and Gaelic Football pitches, playgrounds, dog enclosure.

Linford Christie Stadium

Scoping and investigating proposals for the future of Linford Christie Stadium.

The Friends of Wormwood Scrubs are completely opposed to any plan to develop LCS as a large scale facility that would overshadow, dominate and degrade the natural haven which is Wormwood Scrubs.

We welcome and would support proposals for smaller scale development of benefit to the local community.
